At long, long last, I’ve updated this website. There’s a funny story behind why it took so long: I didn’t actually have access to the editing dashboard, and it took ages for my former business partner (who handled our web presence, this site included) and me to work out what was going on. Now that that’s sorted out, I’m taking advantage of a brief interval of authorly procrastination before I dive back in and finish the WIP. A few highlights:
My new novel Winterville is done, and I’m actually grateful it’s not yet in the publishing pipeline because I’ve had a chance to retcon a few details for its prequel, Stillpoint, which is now about a chapter and a half away from being done as well. Writing Stillpoint has been a joy — I haven’t had this much fun with a novel since An Ideal for Living over two decades ago — and I’m looking forward to seeing both new books in print sooner or later. I envision these as the first two books in a series. The original idea was a trilogy, and I’m pretty clear on where the story is going next. After that, I’d like to write at least two more. The ideas are there, loosely; it’s more a matter of time and bandwidth.
My recent short story “On the Carcosa Metro” has been nominated for Best of the Net and the Stoker so far. (Full disclosure, I DIYed the Stoker nom. That’s allowed. But still. It’s one of my better ones and deserves the recognition.)
Hopefully I will keep this up to date instead of waiting until 2035 for the next round.
